Favorites of the Week #35

Old Navy...I found have found so many great clothes from Old Navy-specifically t shirts for summer.

Slub Knit Tee is a relaxed fit. It runs slightly large but is pretty true to size.
I have this in 3 or 4 different colors.
It is 60% Cotton, 40% Modal. Rounded scoop neck and rounded hem. I love them.

Linen Blend (Linen and Polyester) Boyfriend Tee
It runs large but it is super comfortable. I have this shirt in a million different colors.
It is thin so I have to wear a camisole or shade tee underneath it. Love them though!

My newest purchase which is super cute.  Pixie Pants. Aren't these polka dots cute. You can wear them with flats or flip flops in the summer and boots in the winter. I am so glad I bought them.

I got a fitbit flex and am really enjoying it. I love tracking my steps to the point where its become quite an obsession. I am more active and more aware of how much I am moving. I just barely found out tonight how to track my sleep finally! The only real complaint I have is the fact that the flex doesn't have a clock like the fitbit force and other bigger models. I am still so glad I got one.

Crystal Light Energy.

You mix these with water and it is such a good caffeine alternative to soda.
The strawberry is my favorite.

Catch Me Up

I want  to catch you all up on my life.
I had my birthday the end of May. I had a great girls night.
I went you with my friends. They surprised me with this cute green necklace, my favorite color.
We all went to see a play called "Over the River and Through the Woods."

Nick is a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey. His parents retired and moved to Florida. That doesn't mean his family isn't still in Jersey. In fact, he sees both sets of his grandparents every Sunday for dinner. This is routine until he has to tell them that he's been offered a dream job. The job he's been waiting for—marketing executive—would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news doesn't sit so well. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. How could he betray his family's love to move to Seattle, for a job, wonder his I grandparents? Well, Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma do their level best, and that includes bringing to dinner the lovely—and single—Caitlin O'Hare as bait…we won't give the ending away here.

This play was so funny, and touching and amazing. It literally made us all laugh one minute and cry the next. It was really poignant for me because my grandfather passed away the day before. It really made me appreciate my family.

Then my friends and I went out to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. We were there pretty late so it took me three times ordering food before I found something the kitchen could actually make. It was actually quite funny. Plus, I got free Cheesecake. Score!

Then, one week later we were able to attend my Grandpa John's funeral. It was a sad day but also happy in a way because my grandpa had been sick for awhile. He was no longer suffering and we were able to celebrate his life. My grandpa wore a lot of hats. He was an educator, a sailor and veteran, a missionary, but most importantly a husband and father. He was such a great example to each of us.
He taught his family so much about working hard and passed down his love of music.
The funeral made me cry and I teared up again at the grave side service as my grandma was presented with a flag and taps was played, It was so good to be with family.

We will miss my Grandpa a lot. He led a good life . He and my grandma were together almost 70 years. She took care of him all by herself except for the last two or three months
Til we meet again..

Anchors Aweigh, my boys,
Anchors Aweigh.
Farewell to foreign shores,
We sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay.
Through our last night ashore,
Drink to the foam,
Until we meet once more.
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home

Weekly Favorites #34

I know i have been  MIA the couple of months but I have made a resolution to post more regularly.
For the few readers who were actually wondering ha ha ha.

Number One. This past week I watched something that made me feel 15 again.

There were clips of old music videos and home recordings of performances before they made it big.

This documentary reminds you that these guys are really talented. They can harmonize and sing a Capella no problem. They really know what they are doing. And, they still have their moves as well.

It was really cool to hear a little bit about how the group formed and how the guy that put them together, Lou Pearlman, actually ended up going to jail.

I was just really impressed that these guys are still together after 20 years. Even though they might disagree and argue, they really do care about each other. Disagreement is to be expected in any business.

I only felt like there were two downsides. First, This documentary was entertaining but  I actually wish there had been more of it. It felt like they barely scratched the surfaced. Second, there were quite a few f bombs thrown around, mostly by Nick. I realy do hate that word.

I am now bound and determined to see them in concert. They are supposed to be recording a new album at the end of a year and tour through 2017.This documentary is now on Netflix.

2. The Cokeville Miracle

Here is a quick synopsis.
In 1986 Cokeville made national headlines when a madman and his wife entered the elementary school with guns and bomb. They gathered over 100 children and teachers into a small room, and made a demand: $200 million dollars for the lives of the children - but then the bomb went off... How did a bomb that should have leveled the room take only two lives that day, the madman and his wife? Each child, each adult who made it out of that room has a story to tell. Follow the Sheriff's investigator Ron Hartley as he pieces together the evidence, including stories of prayer and divine intervention from multiple witnesses. Gather the evidence and decide for yourself. Do you see coincidence, or do you see miracles?

I know there have been a lot of good movies come out lately like Jurassic World and Inside Out, but I really thought this one was great. I even started tearing up near the end, and I never cry during movies. I will say that other than the madman and his wife, the acting was not really "Oscar Worthy"  but the whole message about the power of prayer was beautiful. It will make you stop and think about God's hand in your life. I highly recommend it.

3. Aussie Dry Shampoo.

I think I have finally found a dry shampoo I love.  I have found that while this dry shampoo still makes your feel heavy, it keeps your looking clean. For me, this dry shampoo doesn't make your hair look quite as dry as others that I have used. And it smells great.
The can even lists 7 claims right on the package.  I'd have to say I agree with all of them.  ,
1st Day Clean Look
Freshness Boost
Lightweight Fullness
Color Protection,
Refreshed feel,
Matte Finish
Aussome Scent.

4-Hunter Hayes New Music Video for "21"
I completely love Hunter Hayes. I have tickets to see him with Lady Antebellum.
I  am tempted to upgrade my ticket to do the VIP Meet and Greet with Hunter. The concert in Utah is on Wed. July 29th, I work full time, and I was told with the meet and greet, you need to be a the venue around 2:15.  I would have to take a half day off of work. I don't know what to do!!! Somebody help me.

Weekly Favorites #33

Annual Family ReFUNion in Park City, Utah. We all got these awesome matching sweatshirts. Later, more detailed posts will be coming.

I have finally found a red lipstick I like. I have tried a bunch of red lipsticks that look classic red, but always somehow turn pink on me. I have warm skin tones so I need red lipsticks with a brown or orange undertone. This is Revlon Super Lustrous-Creme Lipstick in Raisin Rage.

New favorite t-shirts for summer time. The brand is Style & Co found at Macys. There are only around $12.00. They are comfortable and have a relaxed fit so I ordered a size smaller than I would normally wear. I seriously have ordered 4 colors of the Short Sleeve Pocket Tee. Check Them out here.

Speaking of Online shopping

Weekly Favorites #32

Lasting Finish By Kate Lipstick.

This is one of my new favorite neutral lipsticks.
This shade I'm recommending is #14 (Rosetto)
This lipstick is smooth and offers moisture to keep your lips from drying out. The coverage/color is solid and lightweight. The color is also longlasting. I am dying to try a different shade. Maybe red?
Shades 07, 11, and 19 look fantsastic.

The Last Five Years-Movie

What is not to love about this movie. 1, Anna Kendrick and 2, Jeremy Jordan.
In the musical, the story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage), and Jamie's is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect.

. This might make me sound uptight but the movie even got rid of or toned down the language from the original soundtrack. I wouldn't say the movie version of this musical is perfect, but I loved it

My brother recommended this free personal training program. The best thing about BodBot is that you can personalize your workouts. It asks you to assess your current physical abilities with a strength test. BodBot will take into account what muscles you want to target, where you will work out (home vs. gym), and what equipment you have available. You can even switch out an exercise if there is one scheduled that you don't like.

ALOHA MOVIE TRAILER

SAM SMITH
I went on a road trip and realized I like a lot of Sam Smith's Songs inlcuding this one called
"Like I Can".
I also really need to listen to Ed Sheeran's new CD.  I have just discovered "Thinking Out Loud."

WEEKLY FAVORITE #31

#1 BOOK CLUB

I love getting together with my friends for book club. We get to talk, and catch up, and laugh.
Even if we do only end up discussing our book for a few minutes, its always worth it.

Yes, Please.
I liked this book, and I think Amy Poehler is smart and very funny, but I did not love the book.
The highlights for me was actually listening to the audio book and hearing Amy narrate her own book. I loved her chapter about the cast of Park and Recreation. She talked about each character, her favorite moments filming on set, the parts that made her laugh the hardest, and the scenes that made her cry the most. I also really loved the last chapter entitled "The Robots Will Kill US All."
It talked about how great cell phones are but how dangerous it is to rely on Facebook and Instagram, social media, and the internet in general to validate how we feel about ourselves.
I did like the book but I enjoyed Bossypants by Tina Fey more.

#2 Can We Talk About the "Parenthood" Finale

*Spoiler Alert*
This show is always full of tear worthy moments and I am so sad its ending.
I just have to mention my favorite moments.

Hank asking Zeke's blessing/permission to marry Sarah.
Max asking a girl to dance at the wedding.
The wedding and photo montages.
Julia and Joel adopt Victor's sister and end up with four kids!
I am so glad we didn't have to experience the grief of Zeke's funeral.
The whole show ended on a happy note and I loved the flash forwards so you know everybody is happy and alright.
Bye Parenthood, we'll miss you.
What did you think of the finale?

#3 Trivia Crack

Even though some of the questions are very easy, I am kind of addicted right now.

#4 No Fear Shakespeare

No Fear Shakespeare puts Shakespeare's language side-by-side with a facing-page translation into modern English—the kind of English people actually speak today.

I am loving reading Twelfth Night with this study guide. This is my favorite Shakespeare play and there are nineteen or so more Shakespeare plays offered online for free at http://nfs.sparknotes.com/
